Gas Gas, the Catalan motorcycle brand known for its high performance competition bikes, is making the move to distance events at Dakar 2012. The historic manufacturer of trial and enduro motorcycles, has bet heavily on several luxury signings such as pilots and Laia Sanz and engineer Marc Guasch Pere Ibanez, ready for the new season. Miguel AngelDominguez, already well known in the racing world for his work with stars such as Formula 1 driver Pedro de la Rosa, will be there providing important therapeutic support for the driver’s bodies.
Dakar 2012 begins on January 1 and passes through Argentina, Chile and Peru. It’s a huge rally adventure that leads from the shores of the Atlantic to the Pacific covering more than 9,000 kilometers in total. This new Dakar sees a change in format, with the drivers and riders completing the course over 14 days. Following the Andean mountains, which serve as a beautiful, is rather imposing guide, the drivers will cross the Atacama Desert, the seemingly never ending dunes of Peru, that will remind veterans of the event of previous years in Mauritania .
As you would expect, a tour of this kind is punishing for the motorcycles; the bodies of the riders suffer in equal measure so, to get the best results, the support of a sports therapist is just as important as that of an engineer. Miguel Angel has over 20 years experience working with athletes of the highest level in tennis, soccer and motor sports, where he has worked with some of the world’s best drivers. He released his brand of creams, MADFORM in 1999.
